Allergies and other respiratory issues make it hard for some people to use chemical cleaning products. At the same time, there are plenty cleaning items sold these days claim to be eco-friendly and free of harsh chemicals, when that isn’t always the case. The following are some cleaning solutions which you can make right in your kitchen using other common household products:

Wax for Floors

  • 2 Tbsp. of olive oil
  • warm water
  • white vinegar

This wax will serve as an effective alternative for those who are bothered by the strong chemical smell of many common floor cleaners.

Furniture Polishing

  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 20 drops of lemon oil
  • 1/4 cup of white vinegar

The wood will absorb the oils and the lemon will cut away all the excess greases

Homemade Bleach

  • 1/2 cup of baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp of peroxide
  • 1 tsp of dish soap

This solution can effectively scrub tiles and bathrooms with ease.

Microwave Cleaner

  • A few lemons cut into wedges
  • Bowl with small amount of water

Place lemon wedges inside of the bowl with a tad bit of water and microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove the bowl and wipe your microwave out using a damp cloth.

Glass Cleaner

  • 1 1/2 cup of water
  • lemon juice
  • 1 cup of white vinegar.

This will work best on mirrors, and the lemon will give them a streak-free shine.
